Rosina D'Agostino Meola Obituary
Rosina D'Agostino Meola, age 86, passed away Monday, November 19, 2012, at her residence in Millcreek. Born in Pesco Sannita, Benevento, Italy, on January 15, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Felece and Marianna (Martino) D'Agostino. Rosina's home was a gathering place for family and friends, who enjoyed her cooking and the stories she always told. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, and had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. She also enjoyed crocheting and canning her own tomato sauce. Rosina worked at Sterling Seal as a packager and press operator for many years until her retirement in 1988. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Pietro D'Agostino, and two sisters, Nicolina Capozza and Angelina Capozza. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Antonio N. Meola, whom she married on November 23, 1947 at the San Salvatore Church in the town of Pesco Sannita. Further survivors include a son, Dan Meola, and his significant other, Carol Ann Abbott; a daughter, Mary Ellen Straub, and her husband, Michael, all of Erie; five grandchildren, Rob Meola, wife Amy, Dan Meola, wife Bethany, Russ Straub, Leah Kistler, husband James, and Andrea Straub, all of Erie; seven great-grandchildren, Brandon, Xavier, Angelina, Desiree, Jasmine, Joshua and Roman Meola; a sister-in-law, Giovanna Meola, of Erie; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard, Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and may attend a prayer service there Saturday at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Sacrament Church at 10 o'clock. Entombment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Mausoleum.
