Russell C. Fisher Obituary
Russell C. Fisher, 91, of Fairview, died, Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at Manchester Commons.

He was born February 17, 1927, in Armstrong County, Pa., son of Ivan and Vera (Minich) Fisher.

He attended Redbank Valley High School in New Bethlehem, Pa., and while in high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he was deployed to the European Theater of Operations with the 7th Infantry Regiment, serving from May 1, 1945 to November 16, 1945 with the occupation forces in Germany. Upon his discharge from the Army, he returned to Armstrong County where he worked on the family farm.

Russell married his wife, Helen (Cherry) Fisher on November 30, 1951 and they moved to Wesleyville, where he worked at General Electric. Russ and Helen moved to Fairview in 1953, where he worked at Kendall Refining, and then in 1970, he operated Presque Isle Exxon Gas Station at Sterrettania and I-90. Most recently, he worked for the PA Fish and Boat Commission, retiring in 1989.

Russ was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan throughout his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Fisher.

He will be greatly missed by his family, which in addition to his wife, Helen, includes two daughters, Nancy McKeehen (Ron), Barbara DeJesus (Felix); a son, Russell C. Fisher Jr. (Kathy); and his grandchildren, Lisette Ryan (Jeremy), Jessica DeJesus, Megan Fisher, Jamie Lewis, and Megan Lewis.

Friends are invited to call on Sunday, July 15th, at the Girard Alliance Church, 229 Rice Ave., Girard from 2 p.m. until the time of a Memorial Service there at 4 p.m. Burial, with full military honors, will be held on Monday, July 16th, at 10 a.m. at the Girard Cemetery.

Russell's family would like to express their gratitude for the exceptional care given to Russell at Manchester Commons, especially Anthony and Deborah.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fairview Fire Department, 7190 W. Ridge Rd., Fairview, PA 16415.
