Russell W. Pickens, age 62, of Girard, Pa., passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 at UPMC Hamot. He was born in Waynesburg, Pa. on April 10, 1951, son of the late Russell and Martha Pickens. Russell was a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church. He received an EMT Degree from Youngstown State University and worked as a Nursing Assistant for over 20 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Vietnam War. Russell is survived by his wife, Nancy Pickens; two children, Angela Stewart (Eddie) and Timothy Pickens (Angie); three sisters, Tina Rodgers, Susan Robertson and Jeannie Corso; one brother, Tommy Pickens; eight grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pam Pickens and an aunt, Dorothy Gumbert. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Fairview Presbyterian Church, 4264 Avonia Road, on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., conducted by Rev. Chuck Cammaratta.
