She was a resident of Erie for 52 years, moving to Erie as a child. Sara was a graduate of East High School and of Edinboro University, where she earned her Associate's degree in sociology. Sara was employed by Voices of Independence and Supportive Living as a House manager and by Heartfelt Home Care as a residential aide.

Sara was a very active member of Antioch Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Orpha Chapter 21, and the American Legion #771, where she was a part of the ladies auxiliary.

Those Steelers! She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan! Weezie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, by whom she will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, DeSean Sheppard; and her siblings, John, Charles and Brenda Dancy, and Charlie J. Miller Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Dennis Sheppard II and DeJon Sheppard Sr.; one brother, Danny (Yvette) Dancy, all of Erie, Pa.; four sisters, Mary Frances Conner of Macon, Miss., and Hattie (Bruce) Stagg, Nancy Ligon, and Carolyn Mason, all of Erie, Pa.; her grandchildren, D'arrona, DeJon, and Da'LeJah; her best friends, Sonya Vaughn, Angie Goodwine, Sheila Price, and Jackie Dawson; a dear cousin, Felicia Morgan; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Friends may visit with the family at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 160 West 20th St., on Saturday, January 12, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., where a home going celebration will immediately follow, with Reverend Floyd McClure eulogizing.
