Thomas J. Wojnakowski, Sr., age 76, of Erie, died Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at UPMC Hamot. He was born in Erie, March 11, 1936, a son of the late Leo P. and Eugenia Margaret Sklaezewska Wojnakowski. Tom served with the U.S. Air Force. He was employed as an Engineer with Erie General Electric Company for 27 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a 3rd degree Knights of Columbus, G.E. Management Association, G.E. exempt retirees, the former East Erie Turner, the Siebenbuerger Club, the Sacred Heart Ushers Club and Times Old Newsies. He was also a member of Holy Trinity Club and American Legion Post 571, Wesleyville. Tom was an active member of his church and community, lending a hand whenever needed for family and friends. In his leisure time he enjoyed traveling the globe with his wife and every moment spent on the golf course. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his step mother, Gertrude Kline McKinley Wojnakowski and his beloved pets, Fritz, Corky and Alex. Survivors include his wife, Mary Luedtke Wojnakowski, whom he married on June 2, 1962; a son, Thomas J. Wojnakowski, Jr. of Aurora, Colo.; two daughters, Mary M. Wojnakowski of Phoenix, Ariz. and Pamela A. Wojnakowski of Tampa Fla.; a step sister, Patricia McKinley of Girard; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, LLP, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 East 38th St. Friday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and may attend services there on Saturday 10:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church at 11 a.m. Burial in Erie County Memorial Gardens.
