I am so sorry that you are gone. You are certainly not forgotten. Thanks for all the times you came back to visit. I have such fond memories of our math class with you, the scholar, Hunter, the jock, Tori, the actress, and me, Mr. Kotter. Dear family of Mr Rowland,
I was profoundly sorry when our Departmental secretary, in looking for Tyler's e-mail in order for us to write to him, found that he had passed away so tragically young. Please know that we professors on the Graduate Admissions Committee in the Department of Classical Studies at the University of Michigan had blindly, i.e. independently of each other, ranked him our top choice for a four-year fellowship to study in our graduate program. We were so impressed with how he had put together his own program through Hampshire College, and with the brilliance of his ideas. We are deeply grieved for you. As the Greek poet Menander wrote, 'those whom the gods love die young'. Please feel free to share this message with anyone you wish to know about it. You can be very proud of Tyler Rowland.

Tyler was a true intellectual. He was not only well-read but eager to share his wisdom with others. I had several stimulating conversations with him about literature when we were in Middle School. My favorite memory with him though is from High School when we broke away from the Homecoming game to talk philosophy. He taught me Nietzsche's doctrine of eternal recurrence that night. He was a passionate, inspiring, and kind man. He also had a terrific sense of humor. I will miss him dearly and will read Gilles Deleuze's Nietzsche and Philosophy in his honor. Rest in peace, my friend.

My deepest condolences to you both. Tyler will be truly missed. I remember him excitedly talking my ear off about the Three Stooges, then Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein, Star Wars, James Bond and even God. As he matured, his library grew, and he was always eager to share with me all the wonderful things he was discovering. He was a never-dimming light, vibrant and pleasant and full of life. I will always remember catching bugs with him when we first became neighbors, and will cling tight to all the beautiful things he shared with me as both child of life, and brilliant scholar.

There is no way to describe the impact of Tiberius on the Greenhill Latin program. It was always a pleasure to visit with him when he returned from Hampshire each semester and to see his eyes sparkle when he told me all that he was doing with Classics. Tyler made such a huge impact on this earth while he was with us . Truly a gifted young man who walked the walk and talked the talk.
He was loved and well regarded by all who met him. He treated all he met with kindness and respect. All walks of life were touched by this incredible, gifted man.

I am remembering Tyler so fondly and gratefully. He was a brother to Olivia and a friend to Elea. All the years of Olivia's Tyler stories and the grin on her face when she told them resound in my memory. He was a symbol to me of how beautiful it is when a person walks his own path, his own way.

Growing up with Tyler was truly a blessing and his absence is a great loss to all who knew him. His intelligence inspired me and he never seemed to be without his witty comments. Playing card games and made up games in the street with all the neighborhood kids is a memory in my life that I will never forget. Lesley and I truly have some wonderful and silly memories to share, and I know the stories will never tire out. Rest in peace Ty, we miss you.

Dear Patti & Lesley, I knew Tyler was very special when I met him in our White #10 Legacy Group for Heart of the Hill. It was homecoming. We were making posters to encourage 'all' Greenhill's teams. I knew that without a doubt Tyler would make an unique and unforgetable contribution in his lifetime. Tyler visited my office often, rarely sick, and actually checking on me or just chatting. I have known him since he came to Greenhill in the 5th grade when he and my son, Hunter,were at odds with each other and then became the closest of friends.Hunter and Tyler always greeted each other with their latin names and had an unbreakable bond.
Tyler, Hunter and I will miss you dearly. You had such a positive influence in our lives and we will keep you alive in our thoughts and memories.

Tiberius, you were one of my best and truest friends. Whenever I needed help with anything, you always found a way to make time for me, despite your always busy schedule. Being in math with you, working out, getting lunch, going to high school dances, editing papers, hearing about your crazy movie ideas, and just talking to you about whatever will be some of my most cherished memories. I can honestly say that you've changed my life for the better. I miss you so much, but a friendship like ours and a spirit like yours will live on forever.
