Vera (Chromik) (Dobrogosz) (Raczkowski) Rodgers, passed away peacefully at her home in Wichita Kan. January 1, 2013. Vera was born in Albion Pa., April 17, 1925 at the farm house of her grandparents Valentine and Veronica Chromik. Her mother Mary Chromik Dobrogosz moved to Erie where Vera was raised and graduated from Academy High School. Vera earned her nursing degree at Temple University and served briefly as an Army Nurse Cadet. In 1946 Vera married Edward J. Raczkowski of Erie (after the war and prior to their marriage Ed changed his name to Rodgers). A devoted wife, a passionate and loving mother, Vera was tragically injured in a car accident March 6, 1967. Vera suffered a TBI and never again gained the ability to walk. Despite the limitations to her life as a result of the accident, Vera never lost her zest for life or the twinkle in her eye. She was a woman who loved life, loved her family, and above all she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Vera was preceded in death by her devoted husband Dr. Edward J. Rodgers. Survivors include: children; Gail (Bill) Markham, Tim Rodgers, Ellen (Mark) Travis, Ken (Karen) Rodgers, Bill (Susan) Rodgers, 12 grand children, 16 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, brother; Wally (Donna) Dobrogosz, sisters; Mary Jane (Dan) Brennon, Rose (Ron) Gray, Uncle Joseph, Aunt Martha, and many dear nieces and nephews.
