Walter A. Youngs, 76, of Girard, died Friday, September 13, 2013 at St. Vincent Health Center, following an extended illness.
He was born July 21, 1937 in Erie, a son of the late Walter A. and Helen M. Greitzer Youngs.
Walter graduated from Cathedral Prep in 1955. An astute entrepreneur, he and his wife owned several small businesses, and was co-founder and co-owner of Identification Systems Inc. Having learned sales and manufacturing early in his career, he built ISI into several successful local businesses, going on to add the Country Greens and the Green Roof Inn to his list of accomplishments. He was a member of the Girard American Legion Post #494, an honorary member of the Edinboro-McKean VFW
Post#740, and a member of various and many community and professional organizations throughout the area.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Marie Reynaud Youngs, whom he married in 1956 in Erie, also by a brother, Robert A. Youngs.
He will be greatly missed by his family which include his daughter, Michele A. Smith (Scott) of Cranesville; a son Mark A. Youngs (Wendy) of Girard; a brother Gerald A. Youngs (Susan) of Clearwater, Fla., four grandchildren, Lucas A. Youngs, Jessica L. Campbell (Nicholas), Shannon M. Smith and her fiancé Joshua McDonald, Mallorey A. Smith and her fiancé Jacob Thomas; two great grandchildren, Lukah Zion Youngs and Brooke Alayna Thomas also a dear friend and close companion, Kathy Baughman of Girard.
There will be no public calling hours observed.
Services will be held privately by the family.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Girard American Legion, 42 Wall St., Girard, PA 16417.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Edder Funeral Home, Inc., Girard.
