William Bill Andrew Hayes Obituary
William "Bill" Andrew Hayes, 65, of Erie, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at UPMC Hamot. He was born on August 7, 1952, in Sebree, Ky., son of the late William H. and Mary E. Black Hay.

He married Sallie A. Northington in Rockford, Ill., on May 19, 1972.

William was a faithful servant of Second Baptist Church of Erie, Pa., where he was a Deacon, Trustee, and Church Clerk. He loved his church unconditionally and was very active helping maintain the physical structure of the church.

He was a long-time employee of Erie Forge and Steel. He was also employed by Modern Industries and most recently Home Depot.

William had a style of his own that could not be ignored. He was the sharpest dressed man in the room and always loved to dance at any party he went to. His hobbies included yard work, home improvement, electronics, enjoying nature and watching football and boxing.

William is survived by his loving and devoted wife Sallie; a son, Dion Hayes; a daughter, Rachel (Chris) D'Aurora; a granddaughter, Cierra Pollock; two great-grandchildren, Raena and Giovani "Matthew"; four sisters, Theresa Ketton, Felicia Leach, Shirley (George) Northington and Dorothy (Louis) Coleman; one brother, Norman (Maria) Hayes. We are also in mourning of his sister, Ilyne Carr, who followed him on to glory just one day after him.

Friends are invited to visit with the family at Second Baptist Church 757 E. 26th Street, on Saturday, June 16, 2018, from 10 a.m., to 12 p.m., where a homegoing celebration will immediately follow with Reverend Floyd McClure officiating and Reverend Lamont Higginbottom Sr. eulogizing. Interment will be at Wintergreen Gorge. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent in memory of Bill Hayes to the Second Baptist Church Nurse's Guild. Professional services are entrusted to Pitts Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Avenue, Erie, PA 16504.
