William G. Junkin, 92, formerly of Erie, passed away January 16, 2014.
Born September 28, 1921, in Braddock, Pa., he was a son of George C. and Hazel A. Reppert Junkin.
He was preceded in death, on September 4, 1996, by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy M. Sword Junkin, whom he married September 28, 1943. Bill served his country during WWII
, in the U.S. Army, as a mess sergeant with the 7th Air Force in the Pacific Theater.
He is survived by one daughter, Carla Crill of Bessemer; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Cindy Junkin of Bessemer; two grandchildren, Eric (Christine) Junkin and Megan (Charles) Brown; and four great-grandchildren, Ariel Junkin, Benjamin Junkin, Rachel Mays and Daisy Brown.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Howard Junkin, and one granddaughter, Candace Crill Mays.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 19, from 2:00-5:00 p.m., at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, Pa.
