Edward J. "Ed" Kempf, age 93, of Erie, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2011 at St. Vincent Health Center. He was born April 17, 1917, son of the late George and Eva Mear Kempf. Ed was a lifelong Erie resident. Ed worked at Erie Resistor for 20 years and retired from Plastek Industries in 1984 after five years of service. He was a member of St. James R.C. Church. In addition, Ed was a lifelong member of East Erie Turners, the Siebenbuerger Club and the Erie District Bowling Association. He was also a member of the Erie Maennerchor Club. His interests included bowling, gardening and woodworking. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rose Margaret Ferraro Kempf; one brother, George Kempf; two sisters, Winifred Grieshaber and Alice Murphy; and two grandsons, Joseph and Joseph W. Survivors include his three sons, Edward J. Kempf, Jr. (Joy) of Albion, Robert A. Kempf (Kathy) of Erie and James M. Kempf (Lori) of Lititz, Pa.; five grandchildren, Edward J. Kempf III, Carra Krebs, Sarah Rush, Tanya Gable and Kristen Kempf; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc, East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and are invited to attend a prayer service there on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. James R.C.
