Barbara Gidos Preston age 73, of Erie, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012 at St. Vincent Health Center. She was born in Erie on August 24, 1938 a daughter of Emery Gidos of Erie and the late Marie Ann Camp Gidos. Barbara was a 1956 graduate of Villa Maria Academy and went on to work as a secretary for the Erie Housing Authority for over 15 years. She was a member of St. Ann's Church for many years and most recently St. Julia Church. Barbara was the "social director" of the family always planning get-together's and activities. She enjoyed taking pictures and spending Saturday's attending garage sales with her sisters. She enjoyed working on her family genealogy, traveling all over the world to get enough information to write two books about her family history. In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband of 46 years, Benjamin L. Preston; two daughters, Susan C. Preston and Marjorie M. Preston both of Erie; three sisters, Catherine Sherman of California, Peggy Fries of Erie and Joan Klos of McKean; and a brother Peter Gidos of Erie. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a prayer service there on Thursday at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Julia Church, 638 Roslyn Ave. Erie, PA 16505.
