Dorothy M. Herrick, age 73, resident of 26302 State Hwy #19, Cambridge Springs, Pa., died Friday, April 13, 2012, at Meadville Medical Center, Meadville, Pa. Born on April 23, 1938, Dorothy was a daughter of the late Carl Houston and Gladys Ritan Houston. On August 17, 1957 she married E. Charles Herrick and he survives. Since 1965, Dorothy and her husband owned and operated the well-known Herrick Hill Dairy Farm located just north of Cambridge Springs. In addition to having a large dairy herd, the farm also raised produce. The couple retired from farming in 2000. In 1996, Dorothy began growing dozens of varieties of day lilies and in 1998 opened "Bountiful Gardens". The business cultivated the lilies into spectacular fields of color and sold them to the general public. Dorothy also had a great interest in ceramics. Preceding Dorothy in death in addition to her parents, was a brother - Delton Houston. Family survivors, including her husband - Charles Herrick of 54 years, are two sons - Tim Herrick and his wife, Susan of Lancaster, Ky. and Dan E. Herrick and his wife, Liz, of Cambridge Springs; a daughter - Kay Marie Smith and her husband, Tim, of Gainesville, Fla.; ten grandchildren - Kaitlyn Smith, Jason Smith, Mark Herrick, Elizabeth Herrick, Abigail Herrick, Joshua Herrick, Rebekah Herrick, Jonathan Herrick, Hannah Herrick, and Naomi Herrick. Also surviving are two brothers - Roy Houston and his wife, Alice, of Albion and Clyde Houston; as well as a sister - Mary Cole of Conneaut, Ohio. Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and are invited to funeral services there on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Roger Hogel, pastor of the South Ridge Baptist Church of Conneaut, Ohio will officiate.
