Nelson Irizarry, Jr., age 42, of Erie, died unexpectedly, Saturday, April 14, 2012. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he was a son of Nelson Sr. and Ada (Reyes) Irizarry. Nelson had a love for life and lived it to the fullest. His passion was fast cars and drag racing. He especially loved Mustangs. He was also an expert pool player. He carried out his love for cars in his work. He owned and operated Leonardo's Car Care. Nelson is survived by his four children: Leonardo, Stephanie, Jose and Nelson X. Irizarry, III; two brothers, Victor Irizarry, wife Toni and Nelson I. Irizarry, wife Alma Martinez; three sisters, Ingrid Vega, fiancé Wilmer Romero, Sally Irizarry, husband, Jose Adames and Adilis Irizarry, husband Carlos Colon; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 E. 38th St., at Pine Ave., Tuesday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and to attend a service there Wednesday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Hector Rosa officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested, in care of the funeral home, to help defray final expenses.
