Sharon Rose (Burlingham-Alexander) Powers Obituary
Sharon Rose (Burlingham-Alexander) Powers, 71, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Columbus, Pa., with her son and her sister by her side on Saturday, April 14, 2012. She was born in Erie, Pa., a daughter of the late Ralph Burlingham and Martha Maryellen Burlingham Scott. Sharon was raised and educated in the Arbuckle, Pa. area. As a young woman, she enjoyed working with her father and brother, Lee, on their family farm, Burlingham Potatoes, located in Arbuckle. She later relocated to Florida and worked with Brite Industries and Alexander Electronics with her first husband, Ronald Roy (Sam) Alexander. When she returned to the Corry, Pa. area, she worked with Crestline Windows and later retired from Erie Plastics. Sharon loved her family and friends dearly. She also loved working around her home, gardening, doing word and math puzzles, riddles, games, and NASCAR (go Dale, Jr.). She liked going on casino tours, civilized camping, traveling, and dogs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Olen Powers on February 3, 1992; her brother, Lee Ralph Burlingham; and sister, Agnes Burlingham Lasher. Sharon is survived by her son, Roy Lee (Skip) Alexander of Morriston, Fla.; her step-daughter, Sue Powers Eger of Corry, Pa.; four sisters, Gina Packo, Diann Delieski, Linda Hall, and Mary Knightlinger; and three brothers, Carter Sherman, Donald Burlingham, and Patrick Scott. Also surviving are a grandson, Maximilian Roy (Maxx) Alexander; and three step-grandchildren, Jason Powers, Bob Eger, and Joe Eger. Friends are invited to call at Spring Creek Community Church, 66 Blue Eye Rd., Spring Creek, PA, on Saturday, April 28, 2012, from 12 noon until the time of the memorial service there at 2 p.m. Rev. Timothy Smitley will officiate. A burial service will follow at the West Spring Creek Cemetery, W. Spring Creek, Pa., followed by a reception at the church hall with food and beverages.
