Robert W. Newcomer, Jr., age 72, of Erie, passed away Friday, April 20, 2012, at the Village at Luther Square. He was born in Erie, July 27, 1939, a son of the late Robert W. and Rose Ann Weiner Newcomer. Bob was a carpenter and he owned and operated a construction business for 15 years. He was a lover of the arts and enjoyed writing music. Bob was the author of several published poems, letters to the editor, and one novel. He had a free spirit and loved the outdoors and traveling. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Newcomer and a brother, Daniel Newcomer. He is survived by four daughters, Robin Newcomer, Renee Newcomer, Rhonda Eggleston and her husband, James, and Rose Ann Learn and her husband, Kevin; two sons, Robert W. Newcomer, III and his wife, Sally, and Randy Newcomer; fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his former wife, Linda Newcomer; four sisters, Patricia Ester, Marge Smith, Helen Ploszkiewicz, and Mary Jo Brunner; and a brother, Gerald Newcomer.
