Rita R. Tingley, 63, of Fairview passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012. Rita was born May 25, 1948 in Meadville, Pa., the first daughter of Anna M. and Claude E. Wegley, Sr. Rita married her high school sweetheart, John R. Tingley, also of Meadville, on August 23, 1969. Rita was a graduate of Meadville Area High School, class of 1966 and of Kent State University in 1970. She was a Home Economics educator in both the Oil City and Clarion School Districts and retired in 2010 from her position as New Services Manager at National Fuel Gas Company in Erie. Rita attended Grace Church and had recently been re-baptized as a sign of her renewed faith and commitment to Christ. Her brave, but brief, struggle with cancer was the final confirmation of her strength, faith, and grace. Survivors include her husband, John Tingley of Fairview; daughters: Shannon Jones and her husband Scot of Cascade, Va., Kenzie Schneeberger and her husband Jason of Holidaysburg, Pa. and Brooke (Morrison) Thermidor and husband Wadner of Cap-Haitien, Haiti; sisters: Carol Wegley and her husband George Harvey of Tempe, Ariz., and Jennifer Jacob of Kenna Mist, Tex.; brother: Claude Wegley, Jr. and his wife Linda of Lawrence Park; and five grandchildren: Sydney, Ross, Evan and Adam. Rita was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, daughter, teacher and friend to many people who will miss her deeply, but who will hold her in their hearts forever. Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East in Girard on Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A service will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Burton's All Faiths Chapel with Rev. Derek Sanford of Grace Church officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Meadville.
