Vincent P. Loncharic, age 89, of Erie, entered his Heavenly home on Monday, April 30, 2012 at the Golden Living Center. He was born in Brookville, Pa. on January 2, 1923 a son of the late Francis and Mary Zusscak Loncharic. He graduated from High School in 1940 and then entered the Military serving in WWII. He retired from the Erie Post Office as a Letter Carrier and was also a Civil Service Examiner and an officer in the Erie Postal Credit Union. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, their Ushers Society, NARFE where he received an award for Distinguished Service, SAGE, the American Legion and the Erie Food Bank. He was a recipient of the Benemerenti Medal, which was given by Pope John Paul II for service to the Catholic Community. He enjoyed swimming, bocce, going to garage sales and especially, helping others. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Baughman Loncharic in 2004, a daughter, Mary Darlene Loncharic and a brother, Frank Loncharic. He is survived by a daughter, Karen Johnson and her husband Ken of Platea, a son, Frank Loncharic and his wife Sharon of Arkansas, three grandchildren, Mary Frances Lakari and her husband Tim, Holly Klan and her husband Tim and Jessica Butler, six great-grandchildren, Paul Loncharic, Makayla and Jayden McGuire, Timmy and Sara Lakari and Mark Klan, two sisters, Betty Marhefka of Ohio and Helen Gillot of Georgia and several nieces and nephews also survive. Friends may call on Friday at the Francis V. Kloecker Funeral Home, Inc. 2502 Sassafras St. Erie, PA 16502 from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to the Funeral Mass on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
