John Mark Rouse, age 49, of Virginia Beach, Va., formerly of North East, died on Monday, April 30, 2012, at his residence. He was born on February 19, 1963 in Erie, Pa., the son of Mary Ellen (Mimi) Slobodnjak Rouse and the late William Mac Rouse. John graduated from North East High School in 1981 and was an Eagle Scout. He received his Bachelor and Masters Degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, Bill (Jo Ellen); sisters, Kathy, Cherie, and Julie (Dan); nephews, Billy, Sean, Brandt, and Matthew; and nieces, Leah and Abigail. Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East, on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at 1:00 till 4:00 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held in July at the Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church in Va. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated for a Virginia Beach enhancement project in memory of Johnny, who loved the beach.
