Richard C. "Dick" Kerner, age 64, of Summit Twp., passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the Golden Living Center â€" Western Reserve following a lengthy illness. He was born December 14, 1947 in Erie, son of the late Thomas and Anna Mae Laughran Kerner. He had resided in Erie his entire life. Dick was a U.S. Navy veteran who served proudly in the Vietnam Conflict. He was honorably discharged on July 1, 1970. He had been employed as a welder by the former Bucyrus Erie for 12 ½ years and also by National Fab and Machine for 17 years prior to his retirement. Dick was more recently employed in the maintenance department at Presque Isle Downs and Casino. He was a classic car enthusiast and had restored a '55 Chevy with his son. Dick also enjoyed listening to music from the 50's and 60's. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Kerner, and one nephew, Michael Sheppard. Survivors include his beloved wife of 41 years, Linda Camerlo Kerner; two children, John Kerner (Joette) and Danielle Corsale all of Erie; four grandchildren, Nicholas Kerner, Branden Schick, Tylor and Michael Corsale; four sisters, Sarah Morgan (Thomas), Mary Alice Bongiorno and Ruth Petrush (Del) all of Erie and Dorothy Lyons (John) of Florida; one sister-in-law, Helen Kerner of Erie; many nieces, nephews and beloved friends. No calling hours will be observed. At Dick's request a private service will be conducted at the convenience of his family.
