Donald D. "Don" Loper, age 67, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 7, 2012 at the PA Soldiers' & Sailors' Home, following a brief illness. He was born September 24, 1944 in Erie, son of the late Chester T. and Helen Mae Williams. As a teenager, Don had served in the job corps and had been stationed in Portland, Oregon. He had also served in the PA Army National Guard. Don was employed by General Electric Co. for over 25 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Jean Loper. Survivors include five sisters, Shirley Crays (Cliff) of Girard, Diane Himes (Clayton), Catherine, Judith and Carol Loper all of Erie; two brothers, Edward Loper and C. Thomas Loper, Jr. both of Erie; several nieces and nephews. No calling hours will be observed. A private graveside service will be conducted at the Soldiers' and Sailors' Home Cemetery.
