Frank Henry Dix Sr., 55 of Washington D.C. died unexpectedly on May 7, 2012. Born February 23, 1957, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Anna E. and John S. Dix, Frank is a 1975 graduate of Saint Thomas More High School and a Mercyhurst College (Erie) alumnus where he captained the college crew team. During several decades as an Erie resident, Frank worked in construction as a member of Laborers' Local 603 and went onto found and operate Concepts in Construction. In recent years, Frank worked in Washington D.C. for the Washington Nationals MLB franchise and abroad as a construction consultant for the U.S. Department of State in Baghdad, Iraq and Surabayah, Indonesia. Frank was an active parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church and a father of three. Frank is survived by his sons David H. Dix of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Frank H. Dix, Jr. of New York, New York, his daughter Elena D. Dix of Erie and his grandson Bryce Barnes-Dix of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Frank is also survived by his brothers Clarence Wells, Edward Wells, Donald Wells and John Dix of Philadelphia and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends of Erie, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. Frank was preceded in death by his parents John and Anna Dix and his sister Betty Anne Miller. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on May 14, 2012, at Saint Francis de Sales, 4625 Springfield Ave in Philadelphia, Pa. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Frank C. Videon Funeral Home in Broomall, Pennsylvania. In Erie, a service of remembrance will be held on May 16, 2012, at Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church, 315 E 9 St., at 5:30 p.m. The family may be reached at 3944 Wood Street, Erie, PA 16509.
