Thomas Lawson Venable, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, April 17 2012, after a long fight with prostate cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family at Kino Community Hospital in Tucson, Arizona. Tom was born June 4, 1934 in Erie, Pennsylvania. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and husband of Elizabeth 'Betty' Ann Venable for 57 years prior to her death in 2010 from Alzheimer's. He is preceded in death by his sister, Rosemary Wells, Father, Ralph Venable and Mother, Stella Venable. Tom is survived by a large family who all miss the man who meant so much; his brother, Dik and wife, Mary in Florida; brother, Jerry and his wife Nancy in Kansas City; his eldest son, Brian and wife, Eileen in Boston, Massachusetts; daughter, Pamela Jean Balinski and her husband, Steve in Madison, Wisconsin; son, Scott and his wife, Sandi in Columbus Ohio; and daughters, Cynthia Kaliszewski and Kimberly Desmarais in Tucson, Arizona. 'Papa' Tom was also a wonderful and loving grandfather of ten grandchildren; Faith Kaliszewski Carroll and her husband, Jeremy Carroll in Madison, Wisconsin; Joshua Kaliszewski and his sister Jessica Kaliszewski along with their brother, Jacob Kaliszewski and his wife, Jaclyn all in Tucson, Arizona; Donald Venable and Fiancée Anne Rose in Dayton, Ohio; Kyle Venable in Columbus, Ohio; Evan Venable and his wife Nichole in Fargo, North Dakota; Shannon Venable in Boston, Massachusetts; Alissa Desmarais and fiancée, Todd Graham in Tucson, Arizona; and Karley Desmarais in Picayune, Mississippi. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren; Caleb and Drew Carroll in Madison, Wisconsin and Madeline and Emmaline Kaliszewski in Tucson, Arizona. Tom was a deeply generous and compassionate father to all those who needed one. He made sure everyone felt part of his immediate family. Sunday dinners at his home in Arizona were legendary as were his trips to Costco to feed the troops. He was a savvy businessman who founded two successful companies. His legacy is one of determination in the business world and a family who will never forget him. A Memorial Service has not yet been scheduled. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Tom Venable's life are encouraged to donate to the University of Arizona Cancer Center - 1515 North Campbell Avenue, Tucson, AZ 85724-5013.
