Wendy Lee Abbate Kilgallon, age 55, of Erie, died Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born in Erie, Pa. on March 10, 1957, a daughter of the late James and Thelma Knowles Abbate . She was a student at Tech Memorial High School and studied to receive her CNA degree. She worked as a nursing assistant with the Visiting Nurses Association. She was a member of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church and always had a strong faith in Christ. Wendy loved shopping and going on many outings with her family. The casino was one of her favorite places for fun as she loved music and people, especially the elderly and children. Wendy was also a great lover of all animals, especially dogs. She was very courageous as she neared the end of life and was an inspiration to all. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Sean Kilgallon; two brothers, Matthew and Michael Abbate; and a brother-in-law, Orren Edward Moore. Wendy is survived by three sisters, a twin sister, Brenda Abbate of Girard, Debora Moore, and Monica Abbate and companion Carmela Witkowski; as well as her brother, Mark Abbate, all of Erie. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and one great-great-nephew. She will also be greatly missed by her fiancé, David Sauers. Friends are invited to call at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 602 West Tenth Street, Erie, PA 16502 on Friday from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A prayer service will be held there Saturday morning at 9:15, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, 130 East 4th Street, Erie, PA.
