Glen L. Altimus, age 88, of North East, died on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Pleasant Ridge Manor East. He was born on July 17, 1924 in Jackson Township, Cambria Co. to the late Nicholas M. and Jenny Brown Altimus. Glen was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army. He graduated Nanty-Glo High School and was formerly employed at Reed Manufacturing in the maintenance department. Glen enjoyed camping and carpentry. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Jane Baughman Altimus (November 19, 2011); a son Randy Altimus and a brother, Nicholas V. Altimus. He is survived by a son, Gary Altimus (Cindy) of North East; daughters, Kathy Michalak (Frank) of South Carolina and Lois McClellan (Mace) of Millcreek; daughter-in-law, Karen Altimus of Harborcreek; grandchildren, Phillip, Daniel, Joel, Timothy, James, Adam, Sara, Leah, and Lydia; and great-grandchildren, Luke, Shane, Logan, Catherine, Gavin, Zarilyn, and Kyla. Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East, on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. till time of a funeral service at 3:30 p.m. Officiating is his grandson, Daniel Altimus. Private interment Erie Co.
