Ellen J. Carr McKelvey, age 80, of Erie, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Saint Vincent Health Center. She was born in Erie on December 18, 1931, a daughter of the late Earl and Clara (Bowen) Carr. Ellen was a very giving person and would help anyone she could. She loved dancing, bowling and bingo. She was a member of VFW Post 470 Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Orion Gaunt, Art Kellogg and Harry McKelvey, Sr.; a granddaughter Kelly Jo Dever; five brothers William, Richard, Bob, Earl and Jack Carr; and a sister, Alice Noonan. Ellen is survived by two daughters, Kathy Myers, husband Doug of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Tamura Squire, husband Jeff, of Erie; two sons, Harry McKelvey, wife Tammy of Erie, and Winston McKelvey, wife Laurie, of East Springfield; five brothers, Eddie Carr, wife Delores, Lester Carr, wife Marge, Fred Carr, Donald Carr and Tom Carr; three sisters, Margaret Butts, Elsa Carr and Pat DeLuca. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard. There will be no calling hours on Wednesday. Services will be held there Thursday at 10 a.m., with Rev. Gerry Gammon officiating. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
