Gregory "Hacker" Hatkevich, age 60, of Erie, died at the Erie VA Medical Center, Friday, August 17, 2012. Born May 12, 1952, in Erie, he was a son of the late George and Kathleen (Schley) Hatkevich. He was a 1970 graduate of Tech Memorial High School. He loved sports and was an outstanding baseball player at Tech. Greg also played in the Erie Slow Pitch Mushball League over the years, where he was known as "Hack" or "Hacker". He was stationed in Germany while enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He attended Edinboro University and transferred to Kutztown University, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Greg enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a great father and grandfather, with a huge heart, and leaves behind wonderful memories. Greg is survived by his wife, Beverly Siegfried-Hatkevich; his five children, Nicholas "Van Doops" Hatkevich, of Erie, Talia "Bullfrog" Hatkevich, of Greensboro, N.C., Timothy "Buddah" Hatkevich, Amanda "Bee" Banister and Ryan "Shoosh" Hatkevich, all of Erie; four brothers and three sisters, Byron Hatkevich, Kathy Blanks, husband Ray, Mark Hatkevich, wife Bretta, Joseph "Chip" Hatkevich, Dianne, Caroline and Allen McKinny; three grandchildren, Georgiy "Dr. Curly" Hatkevich, Calvin "Baby" Hatkevich and Mark "Markie". Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 W. 38th St., at Greengarden Blvd., Friday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations to Brugger Funeral Homes, to help pay final expenses, would be appreciated by the family.
