Harold R. "Bergie" Bergstrom, age 86, of Wesleyville, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at the Pennsylvania Soldiers and Sailors Home. He was born in Erie, on October 7, 1926, son of the late Karl and Jennie Bergstrom. Harold was employed at General Electric Co. as a tool designer for 45 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, Erie Maennerchor, and was an avid golfer and 67 year member of Lawrence Park Golf Club. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in the Korean War. Harold was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Violet J. Bergstrom; one daughter, Lisa Fulton (David) of Beaver, Pa.; one son, Mark Bergstrom (Celeste) of Brooksville, Fla.; two grandchildren, Cole and Jada Bergstrom; one sister-in-law, Linda Melaragno; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers Charles, Robert and Albert Bergstrom; and four sisters, Helen Rushton, Esther Humphreys, Evelyn Harrington and Florence Bergstrom. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant Chapel, 250 West 7th Street, on Saturday at 1 p.m. conducted by Interim Pastor Timm High.
