Mark Andrew "Ziggy" Zahar, age 53, of Millcreek, passed away Friday, October 12, 2012 at UPMC Hamot, following an extended illness. He was born in Erie on November 17, 1958, a son of Mary Perry of Erie and the late Edward J. Zahar. Ziggy graduated from McDowell High School in 1976, and went on to serve in the United States Army. He was self employed and owned Zahar Telecommunications for several years. He enjoyed barbequing, motorcycles and RC trucks. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother Edward A. Zahar, and three infant brothers, Joseph, Justin and John Zahar. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Colleen Berry Zahar of Erie; three children, Elizabeth Anne Zahar, Katherine Margaret Zahar and Mark Andrew Zahar Jr., all of Erie; a sister, Catherine R. Zahar and her husband Mark of Florida; two sisters- in-law, Grace Zahar of Florida and Lynn Will of Erie and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a prayer service there on Monday at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Jude's Church Chapel, 2801 W. 6th Street, Rev.
