Armand J. Amendola Obituary
Armand J. Amendola, age 87 of Erie, died Thursday, November 22, 2012 at Erie Presbyterian Lodge. He was born in Erie, April 23, 1925, a son of the late Santo and Cecelia Lauretta Amendola. Armand was a graduate of St. Patrick School and East High School. He proudly served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army 3rd Infantry Division in the European Theatre under the command of Patton's Army. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Roger Israel American Legion Post 11, the CYS Club, the Purple Hearts Association and the Purple Heart with Clusters. He was employed as a pattern maker with Erie General Electric Company for over 51 years, retiring in 1995, served as special deputy sheriff for Erie County and directed traffic for 23 years at Our Lady of Peace. He was a long-time member of St. Patrick Church and loved woodworking and working on his old cars including his favorite 1950 Packard. Armand was preceded in death by his first wife, Jennie T. Amendola in 1994 and his second wife Janeth Amendola in 2005. Survivors include a son, Santo "Sandy" Amendola and Samantha whom he called "Armand's Angel" of Erie; a step-son, Ralph "Rusty" Dolan and his wife Tina of Erie; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Michelle Dolan of Erie; one sister, Mary Lundstrom; and one brother Anthony Amendola both of Erie. Many nieces, nephews and friends also survive. Friends may call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, LLP, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 East 38th St. Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend services there Monday at 8:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Hedwig Church at 9:00 a.m. Burial with military honors in Calvary Cemetery.
