David L. Swanson Sr., 75, of Brockway, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Christ the King Manor after a short illness. Born May 6, 1937, in Buffalo, N.Y., he was a son of the late Glenn and Mildred (Lucore) Swanson. He was married to Judith Ann (Arnold) Swanson on Jan. 19, 1957. She preceded him in death. He retired as a draftsman from Ajax Iron Works in Corry. He worked for McDonald's in Brockway after retirement. He was a graduate of Harborcreek High School, Class of 1955. David was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in DuBois, who enjoyed singing in the church choir, gardening, bowling, and golfing. He lived in Corry for many years. He is survived by three children: David L. Swanson Jr., and wife Joni, of Wattsburg, Teri Genco of DuBois, and Mrs. Sean (Lisa) Garred of DuBois, as well as 13 grandchildren. David was the last survivor of his immediate family. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cheryl Lynn Swanson; a sister, Rose Carlson; and two brothers, Ronald and Richard Swanson. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, at Christ Lutheran Church in DuBois with Pastor Bob Way officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of The Leo Nedza Funeral Home, DuBois. Memorial donations may be made to DuBois Regional Medical Center Hospice.
