Philip M. Kazmierczak, 58, of Newport, New Hampshire, formerly of Erie, Pa., passed away peacefully December 16, 2012. His passing at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center marked the end of a short but valiant fight with cancer. He is survived by his wife of eight years, Katharine Parker, of Newport, his son Philip M. Kazmierczak, Jr., of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and his daughter Stephanie Kazmierczak of Erie, Pennsylvania. Other survivors include his brother David Kazmierczak and sister Sandy McEwen, both of Erie, his sister Janice Scanzillo of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, his stepdaughters Bethany Parker and Christine Miller, stepson James Parker, and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law. Phil was a graduate of Tech Memorial High School. Prior to his illness, Phil had been employed as a maintenance technician in the Pine Tree Castings division of Sturm Ruger in Newport, N.H. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, working outside around the house and indulging his passion for muscle cars, especially his pride and joyâ€" his Anniversary Edition Corvette. Memorial donations may be made to the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation.
