Richard E. "Dick" Schrader, 60 of Erie, Pa. passed away, Tuesday, January 22, 2013 surrounded by his loving family after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 11, 1952 in Auburn, N.Y. the oldest son of the late Herbert and Barbara Downie Schrader. Dick was employed as an over the road truck driver for Birkmire Trucking, prior to that he had worked with his wife Diane and son Kyle at Southside Trailer Service. He was also a mechanic for Total Logistic Control. Dick enjoyed restoring classic vehicles, going to classic car shows and taking Sunday trips to antique stores and craft shows with his wife and sister in law. Dick was very good at carpentry. He could build anything. He was always doing projects. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Dick is survived by his loving wife, Diane King Schrader, their children Katie (Chad) Schroyer, and Kyle Schrader all of Erie; his children Bridget Schrader, Bryan (Tami) Schrader and grandchildren Taylor Davis, Aiden and Alexa Schrader, all of New York. He is further survived by his brother Ronald Schrader of New York, his sister, Cathy (Donald) Courtney of Florida, his mother in law, Nancy (Gary) Ross, his sister in law Darlene (Jeff) Rensel and his brother in law Daniel Fitzpatrick all of Erie. Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many very good friends survive. The family would like to sincerely thank Chaplin Sonny Concepcion, nurses, Tom, Janet and Cathy of Great Lakes Hospice for their wonderful care and support. Friends may call at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Blvd. on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 8 p.m. conducted by Pastor Sonny Concepcion and Mr. Richard Bailey.
