Sarah "Betty" Shadwell Stewart, age 93, a longtime resident of Benetwood Apartments, passed away Friday, January 25, 2013 at St. Mary's Home of Erie, following an unexpected illness. She was born in Erie on November 2, 1919, daughter of the late John and Pauline Kutchen Shadwell. Sarah was employed as a floral designer and beloved staff with the Potratz Floral Shop for over 60 years. She was famous for her baking, especially nut rolls and holiday cookies. She also enjoyed attending worship at Mount St. Benedict. Sarah is survived by her daughter, Sharon Kaczmarek and husband, William, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Adam Kaczmarek; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Stewart, her son, Charles L. Stewart III and brother and sister-in-law, John and Marjorie Shadwell. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road, on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. Further visitation will be held on Friday at Mount St. Benedict Monastery, 6101 East Lake Rd., from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service there at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
