Ronald Jay Boarts, Sr., age 61, of Erie, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at UPMC Hamot. He was born February 17, 1951 in Numine, Pa., son of the late Archie J. and Flora Boarts. Ronald lived in Erie most of his life. He was a longtime boiler maker and welder, and was currently working at General Electric Co. He was an avid Steeler fan and a member of the Moniuszko, CYS and Fulton Clubs. Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie J. Boarts; his sons, Ronald J. Boarts, Jr. and John T. Boarts; his daughter, Jessa L. Boarts; his step-daughter, Kerri A. Brochey; two grandsons, Antonio and Dominic Lopez; brothers, Larry E. Boarts (Gloria), Thomas J. Boarts, and Archie J. Boarts (Frankie); sisters, Crystal D. Hartzell (Denny), Kathy J. Williams (James) and Lisa D. Leavens (James); several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard C. Boarts, and one sister, Linda L. Goodenow.
