Elida N. Spilko Hoffman, age 83, of Erie, died Thursday, February 14, 2013 at St. Mary's Home, East. She was born in Erie on June 10, 1929 a daughter of the late John and Natalia Spilko. She was a member of St. Joseph Church/Bread of Life Community and previously worked in the Activities department at St. Mary's Home, East. She volunteered at St. Vincent Health Center for over 27 years and at St. Mary's Home, East and was a member of the Glennwood Heights Garden Club. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Mary's Home, East and the Regional Home Health and Hospice for the wonderful care they showed their mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hoffman in 2008, and a son, Edward Hoffman. She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Hoffman (Doug Mitchell) of Mebane, N.C.; three sons, James Hoffman, Jr and his wife Ruth of Lake Jackson, Texas, David Hoffman and his wife Rhonda of Erie and Richard Hoffman and his wife Tamera of Erie; a brother, Peter Spilko of Florida, ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive. Friends may call on Sunday at the Francis V. Kloecker Funeral Home, Inc., 2502 Sassafras St., Erie, PA 16502 from 2 p.m to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and are invited to a service there on Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church/Bread of Life Community at 10 a.m. Send condolences to www.kloeckerfuneralhome.com Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
