James J. Chervenka, 70, of Erie, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at St. Vincent health Center. He was born in Erie, on November 29, 1942, son of the late James J. and Geraldine (Yeager) Chervenka. He graduated from East High School. He retired from G.E. Company. He served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam Era as a Medical Aid. He was a life member of the VFW, a member of the American Legion and he also served as an usher at Sacred Heart Church, and was a member of their choir. He enjoyed Harley Davidson Motorcycles, loved traveling, spending time with family, and shooting pool. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Miller. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Thomasina Mannarelli Chervenka, a daughter Ruthy Parr and husband Ron, a son James J. Chervenka, a granddaughter Nicole Marie Parr and a sister Thelma Brightman all of Erie. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and an aunt and uncle. Relatives and friends may call at the Edward J. Garr Funeral Home, Inc. 459 East 12th Street, Erie, PA 16503 on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Services will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 at Sacred Heart Church.
