Alfred "Freddie" Bongiorno, age 75, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at the Erie VA Medical Center. Freddie was born in Erie, December 16, 1937, the son of the late Michael and Jenny Bongiorno. Freddie was a proud graduate of Strong Vincent High School, where he played a tough game of football. He also served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany and the United States. Freddie worked all his life in the plastic industry, specifically as a manufacturer representative, for the majority of his career. He loved a good game of golf and watching his grandchildren in their many sports. His outgoing, charismatic and kindhearted personality drew people from all walks of life. He will be remembered by his genuine kindness and big heart he shared with many. Simply . . . "Everyone loved Freddie." His greatest legacy is his complete commitment and total unconditional love of his family. He will live on through them with his perfect love. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 32 years, Lois Irene Bongiorno (Framancheck) and a sister-in-law Janet Bongiorno. He is survived by his present wife, Marie Antionette Bongiorno (Winschel), a daughter Kimberly Kupniewski (Ken) of Fairview, three sons; Freddie Bongiorno (Carrie) of Erie, Kenn Bongiorno (Grace) of New Bedford, Mass. and Tito Bongiorno (Joyce) of Erie; twelve grandchildren; Julie Bongiorno, Paige Bongiorno, Michael Bongiorno, Sam Bongiorno, Lizzy Bongiorno, Laura Bongiorno, Zachary Kupniewski, Rachael Sabella, Fred Bongiorno, Sydney Bongiorno, Hannah Kupniewski and Frankie Bongiorno; a brother, Phillip Bongiorno of Mechanicsburg, Pa. and two sisters, Maryanne Wright (Doug) of Lakeland Florida and Vida Chieffo (Gene) of Oakmont Pa.; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends are invited to call at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St., at Greengarden Blvd., Saturday 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 1-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., and may attend the services Monday at 11:00 a.m., at Erie First Assembly of God Church, 8150 Oliver Rd. Interment will follow in Erie Cemetery.
