Helen Morelli Bruno, age 93, formerly of Brockway, Pa. died on Thursday, April 4th at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 19, 1920, a daughter of the late Tullio & Maria Corn Morelli. She was married to Louis Bruno on August 9, 1947. They were married for 62 years. He preceded her in death May 16, 2010. She was a lifelong member of St. Tobias Parish in Brockway, and more recently Our Lady of Peace Parish in Erie. While residing in Brockway, she was a Eucharistic minister and member of the Rosary Society for many years. She was a volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels, delivering meals to the sick. Her love of sports began at an early age as a member of her elementary school track team. She won her first blue ribbon at age eight in the 50 yard dash. In later years she was a member of the Keith Brothers bowling team, acheiving Most Improved and 200 Club awards. She enjoyed golfing. She loved to play cards. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, jigsaw puzzles and watching TV and movies. She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirate fan. She loved to travel, touring Italy twice. Rock collecting was a favorite hobby. She was an tremendous cook and excellent baker who enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be immeasurably missed. Survivors include four daughters, Renee (Gary) Haythorn, Audrey (Rich) Swonger, Loretta Lucie and Monica Dingus; a son, Anthony (Cheryl) Bruno; sister Erma Tortorella; and two brothers, Gino and Donald Morelli; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchidren. Friends will be received 4-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 10th at Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home, Brockway. A vigil service will be held at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 11th at St. Tobias Church in Brockway with the Rev. Msgr. Charles Kaza celebrant. Deacon Jack Paruso will deliver the homily. Burial will follow in St. Tobias Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Saint Tobias Church, 1100 Hewitt Street, Brockway, PA 15824 Condolences may be left at csfhinc.com
