Vera M. "Skeet" Foster Thompson, age 81, of Erie, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Presque Isle Rehab & Nursing Center following a lengthy illness. She was born on November 8, 1931 in Erie, daughter of the late Chester and Grace Parmenter Foster. She had resided in Erie her entire life. Vera had been employed as a cook by the former St. John's Kanty Prep. She had also been previously employed as a domestic housekeeper, and had served as a volunteer cook for Erie Independence House. Vera was a member of the Berean Bible Church where she had participated in the Bible Study classes. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and needlework. She especially loved reading her Bible and caring for her beloved grandchildren. Preceded in death by two brothers, Chester and Richard Foster; two sisters, Velma Greenman and Doris Foster; and one grandson, Isaiah Joseph Bartlebaugh. Survivors include her beloved husband of 60 years, Donald Thompson; four children, Donald, Jr. (Vivian) of Mesa, Ariz., and Nancy Stepnowski (Pete), Dale Thompson (Lynne) and Diane Archer all of Erie; two sisters, Donna Winkler of Harborcreek Twp. and Marge Ulig (Walt) of Ohio; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
