James "Jim" E. Markley, age 71, of Erie passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at UPMC Hamot. He was born in Erie on February 16, 1942, son of the late Howard and Margaret O'Brien Markley. Jim was employed as a District Manager, starting with Cohen Auto Parts and Hahn Automotive retiring in 2011. His main love was his family. Jim is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ruth Bartlett Markley; four sons, James Markley, Jr. (Patricia) of Erie, David Markley (Bernice) of Youngsville, Pa., Thomas Markley (Lori) of Girard and Ronald Markley (Kathi) of Erie; one daughter, Michelle Levesque (Michael) of Erie; one brother, Robert Markley (Connie) of Erie; three sisters, Ann Feeney, Patricia Poland (Karl) and Jean Honan (Paul); two brothers-in-law, Paul Bartlett (Sally) of North East and Michael Nelson (Beverly); and two sisters-in-law, Jane Bartlett of North East and Shirley Markley of Erie; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard "Jack" Markley and William Markley, and two sisters, Shirley Markley and Mary Beth Markley. Friends will be received at Sacred Heart Church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass there at 10:30 a.m. Interment, Trinity Cemetery.
