Mary Jane Hoffman, 94, passed away quietly at Golden Living Center Western Reserve on Friday, May 10, 2013. Her life on earth is done but her life in heaven has just begun. She was born on August 14, 1918 in Titusville, Pa. a daughter of the late William Dorschel and his late ex-wife Edith Kunselman. Mary was raised by her late grandfather and grandmother, George and Susan Vanderhoof, of Spartansburg, Pa. Mary was educated in Spartansburg, Pa. graduating from Spartansburg High School in 1936. She moved to Corry with her husband Kelly, where she raised her family and worked for Raymond's Mfg. Co. now known as Barnes Mfg. She left in 1960 and traveled to Santa Monica, Calif., where she was employed until her move back to Pennsylvania in 1967. Her last place of employment was with Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa. as a switchboard operator. In her retirement years Mary lived in Erie, Pa. for many years with Schmid Tower being her last home. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, cooking, eating out and visits from her family. The greatest joys in her life were her two children and her time in California. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Dorschel and his wife, Selma, a sister, Katherine Waid and her husband, Frank, a sister, Elizabeth Severo and her husband, Joe, her ex-husband, Kelly Hoffman, and a great granddaughter, Olivia Nicole Clark. Mary is survived by her son, Donald Hoffman of Erie, Pa., and his friend Genevieve Morse of Ripley, N.Y., and a daughter Eunice Clark and her husband Raymond Clark of Mount Holly, N.C. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Kimberly and (Andrew) Espana, Kirby and (Kristin) Clark, Darren and (Lisa) Hoffman, Darlene Hoffman, and Daylon Hoffman; and eight great grandchildren; Cody, Raymond, Gabrielle, Abigail, Mirabella, Katelyn, Alex and Sarah. Surviving relatives also include six nephews and nieces; David and (Laura) McGuire, Gerald McGuire, Jim and (Duska) Dorschel, Ed and (Joanne) Dorschel, Joanne and (Nic) Nicodemus, and Patricia and (Bill) Wise. The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Living Center Western Reserve and Asera Care Hospice for their loving care. No calling hours will be observed.
