Naomi Lucille Jackson Purchase, age 95, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at St. Mary's at Asbury Ridge, where she had resided for five years. She was born on March 26, 1918 in Erie, daughter of the late John H. and Edith Grafius Jackson. Naomi was employed by Erie Insurance Exchange from 1935-1941 where she met George Purchase. They were married for 36 years until his death in 1977. Naomi's first priority has always been her family. She was a lifelong member of Luther Memorial Church. Naomi was actively involved with and supported many Erie organizations: PTA, Girl Scouts, Erie Philharmonic Orchestra Auxiliary, Erie Civic Music, Erie Playhouse, Erie Women's Club and the Garden Club. She was a musician/pianist and was also very talented with handwork including needlework, sewing, ceramics, and flower arranging. She also loved to play Bridge and do the puzzles in the daily newspaper. Naomi was a Charter Member and Past Matron of Delta Chapter #516 Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Gridley Chapter #324 OES. She was their pianist through many years of service and was a former Deputy of District 1A. Naomi was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, James and John Jackson. She is survived by her son, John Purchase (Nancy); her daughter, Priscilla Walter (Rev. Ralph Walter); daughter-in-law, Olivia Purchase (Wayne); six grandsons, Eric Purchase (Tammy), Gregory Purchase (Adelaide), Christopher Walter, Michael Purchase (Libby), Robert Purchase (Leslie) and Adam Walter (Angela); 12 great-grandchildren, Zachary Nortum, Angela, Sara and Alexander Purchase, Jessica, Samuel and Victoria Purchase, Larry Franco and Liam Purchase, Joseph, Jackson and Olivia Purchase; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., West, 536 West 10th St., on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Luther Memorial Church, 225 West 10th St., officiated by Rev. William E. Coleman. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Luther Memorial Music Performance Fund, 225 West 10th St., 16501 or St. Mary's at Asbury Ridge, 4855 West Ridge Rd., Erie, PA 16506.
