Local Jeweler, loving husband, father, step father & grandfather William C. Breakiron, age 86, of Erie, passed away Sunday, May 12th, 2013, at Golden Living Center-Western Reserve. He was born in Hopwood, Pa, December 7th, 1926, a son of the late Clark and Bertha Bell Crago Breakiron. Bill moved to Erie in 1957. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II, stationed in Germany. In high school, Bill belonged to and sang in a three-piece musical group called The Country Ramblers. For over 50 years, Bill owned and operated W.C. Breakiron Jewelers and Breakiron Coins & Collectibles. He always greeted customers and friends with a smile, taking time to always visit with them. In 2009, his daughter took over the business. He loved boating with his children and had many stories to tell. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and an Erie Otters fan. Bill was a loving, caring and selfless husband and father who had a heart of gold; always doing for others. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jacquelyn Breakiron and a son, Darrell Breakiron; a sister, Jane Wolverton and three brothers, Elmer, George and Lloyd Breakiron. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Salyers Breakiron; two daughters, Linda Lombardo, husband Joe of Erie and Suzy Huster, husband John of Erie; one son, William C. Breakiron, Jr, wife Jane of Scottsdale, Arizona; a daughter-in-law, Mary Breakiron of Erie; a step son, Shawn Waskiewicz of Erie; Grandchildren, Thomas and Lauren Breakiron, Brian and Todd Huster and Lydia Kugel; one brother, Wendell Breakiron of Uniontown,Pa. Also survived by four great grandchildren. Friends may call at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, LLP, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 East 38th St., Wednesday evening 7 to 9, and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend services at the Funeral Home on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Al Detter officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Asera Care 1600 Peninsula Dr. Erie, PA 16505.
