Gary D. Silka, 67, of Union City, Pa., passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013 at the Corry Memorial Hospital, Corry, Pa. Gary was born February 11, 1946 in Newmansville, Pa. the son of the late Nickolas A. and Mable (Whittmon) Silka of Oil City, Pa. He married the former Joyce Lepley on December 21, 1968 in President, Pa. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in Vietnam conflict. He worked in several shops as a welder in Erie County from 1965 to 1998 when he retired. He attended the Faith Evangelical Church of Corry, Pa. and served also as a member of the Free Methodist Church for 30+ years. He enjoyed his family and also fishing, hunting, car shows, ice skating, gardening and walking his dog. Preceding him in death besides his parents was a sister Janet. Survivors include his wife Joyce of Corry, Pa, three sons, Gary Silka and his wife Corlynn, and Jeff Silka and his wife Tracy all of Corry, Pa and Chris Silka and his wife Tina of Sherman, N.Y., brothers David Silka and his wife Marlene of Edinboro, Pa., Blaine Silka and his wife Kathy of Tennessee, and sisters Linda Whittmon, of Oil City, Pa. Marlene Lawson, of Marienville, Pa. and Patty Winford of Franklin, Pa. 11 Grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Friends are invited to call at the Robert M. Glenn Funeral Home, Inc., 62 South Main Street, Union City, Pa. on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. and attend funeral services following at 8 p.m. with Rev J. Lynn Cirigliano, officiating. Burial will be in Erie County Memorial Gardens, Erie, Pa.
