Kenneth J. Spinks, 46, of Waterford passed away Tuesday, July 9th, surrounded by his family and friends at Saint Vincent Health Center, following an extended illness.
Born December 1966, he graduated from Clarion University with a BS in Communications and was a member of the Delta Chi Fraternity. He became involved in EMS while attending Clarion University as an EMT at Central County Ambulance. Ken became a paramedic in 1989 and was one of the first paramedics at Clarion Hospital EMS. He worked at Emergycare for 10 years (1990-2000) as a Paramedic, Preceptor, Instructor and IT specialist. During his life he was a member of Kearsarge Fire Department and an Associate member of Stancliff Hose Company. In 2000, Ken pursued his passion for Information Technology and moved on to work for several different companies as a Network Engineer. He was currently employed with Netanium Network Security Inc.
He was preceded in death by his mother Patricia Terlitsky; maternal grandmother, Rita Pancurak; as well as his very dear friend, Richard Campbell.
Ken was survived by his wife of 14 years, Trish Spinks of Waterford; and their "kids" Angus and Cassie; two brothers, Tom Spinks, his wife Anna of Toledo and their children Michael, Christopher, and Julianna, who Ken was very close with, and Chad and Cindy Terlitsky, their children Alexa and Austin; his Uncle George and wife Jeanne Pancurak of Erie; Uncle Tom and Jim Pancurak also of Erie; Aunt Mary Mitchell of Oil City, as well as several other uncles, aunts and cousins. Special thanks to his cousins and friends Dave, Mary, Teresa and Joe Conde who cared for him during some of his illness. He was also survived by his father in-law and mother in-law Dave and Jan Morrison of Waterford; and sister in-law Tara Steiner and her husband Rich of Edinboro. The family would like to thank Tara for all she did to assist in Ken's medical care through-out his illness.
Ken always had a smile and a story to tell. He would always tell you he was "better than some and worse than others." He enjoyed spending time on his motorcycle, golfing, fishing trips with his nephews, playing ball with his "kids," camp weekends with the boys, and spending time with his "nieces" Madison, Ryan, Paige, Sidney, and Elliot Shields. But most of all, Ken was happy to be with his second family, at camp, all of which were by his bed side at the time of his death, his friends….Dave Cauley, Ross Gaertner, Chuck Auen, and Max Randall. Other special friends who were always dear to Ken and were also able to be with him were Sandra Campbell, Paula Griesacker, Cyndi Randall, and Randy Jagta.
Memorials may be made to the family to assist with medical expenses, to the Kanzius Foundation, or Stancliff Hose Co., PO Box 275, Waterford PA 16441.
In lieu of calling hours, there will be a celebration of life at Stancliff Hose Company, 328 High Street, on Friday, July 12th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
