Doris J. Fedei, age 81, of Erie, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014. She was born in Adena, Ohio on May 3, 1932, a daughter of the late Clarence Payne and Caroline (Waller) Case. Doris had emphysema and was a resident at the Fairview Manor Nursing Home. She died very peacefully, surrounded by those who loved her.

She lived in Adena, Ohio, Baltimore, Maryland, Jewett, Ohio, and Holland, Ohio before moving to Erie in the late 1940's. She was briefly married to James P. Osinski, of Holland, Ohio.

Doris and her husband Nicky owned and operated Dominick's Restaurant in downtown Erie from 1967 until his death in 1993. Doris was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was loved by many of her children's friends and opened up her home to them. There were always children sleeping over or moving in and out, at any given time. Later, the same thing happened with her grandchildren and their friends visiting and moving in with her. When her in-laws could no longer take care of themselves, they moved in with Doris and Nicky. She lovingly took care of them until they passed away. She always had a pet or two in the home and greatly enjoyed their company after her husband passed away. Doris was a fantastic cook and always made enough food to feed an army. Although Scots-Irish, she prepared amazing Italian dishes. Needless to say, there were always people dropping in unexpectedly at dinner time. She loved sitting on her swing on the back porch and watching the comings and goings on in her neighborhood. Many of her neighbors became lifelong friends. She enjoyed lying out in the sun, taking visiting relatives to the beach and visiting her relatives for months at a time. Doris and Nicky loved to dance and could easily clear the dance floor on nights out with friends and family.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Nicholas A. Fedei, whom she married on April 8, 1955 in Toledo, Ohio, a son, Dominick E. Fedei, her beloved step-father Ellis Case, brothers James Payne, Thomas Payne, and Shawn Case, sisters Joyce Payne and Betty L. (Earl A.) Selle, and her husband's parents, Rosae M. (Massello) and Domenico A. Fidei.

Survivors include her daughters, Karen Dorich, (George), Sharon Stacy, (Robert), both of Erie, and Michele Fedei of Mt. Vernon, Wash., grandchildren Shalin Pepperman, William Cass, Alison Stacy (Zach Gall), Michael Stacy (Eileen), Aaron Stacy, and Kristy Chaplain, (Geoffrey), all of Erie, Erik Pennoyer (Stacie), of Spokane, Wash., and Tony Pennoyer, with the U.S. Navy in Hawaii. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, godchildren and a dear friend, Earl J. Kull, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St., on Tuesday from 2:00- 5:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., and are invited to attend Funeral Services there Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with Fr.
