Marilyn L. Brunner Wayland, age 71, of North East, Pa., passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014. She died at the University of Colorado Hospital, after traveling out West one final time.

Marilyn was born in Erie on February 23, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Helen Janis Brunner.

She graduated from St. Patrick Grade School, and was alumni of St. Benedict Academy, Class of 1960. Marilyn married her husband, Harold "Bud" Wayland on June 8, 1963. Bud was transferred to Germany, where they lived for three years, and Marilyn was employed at the Base Exchange in Fulda. They then lived in Montana for 12 years, and Marilyn was employed at the Malmstrom Air Force Base and Anaconda Mining, as an Executive Secretary. Marilyn and Bud returned to North East, Pa. in 1978, where she was employed at Worster Motor Lines and then Better Baked Foods, as an Administrative Assistant, retiring after 16 years of service, in 2006. Marilyn was a member of St. Patrick Church and the Moose Lodge in North East. She enjoyed traveling, going to the casino, sewing, dancing and going to political functions. She also loved her dogs. Raising her pet dogs was a very big part of her life.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Bud" Wayland, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gerald and Gladys Wayland.

She is survived by her brother, Thomas Brunner and his wife Linda, of Erie, a sister-in-law, Diana Warren and her husband David, of Billings, Mont., a nephew, Eric Warren and his wife Ashley, of Billings, Mont., and three nieces, Kori Warren, and her husband Zac, also of Billings, Mont., and Patricia Brunner of Erie and Debra Brunner of Erie and Chris Slusarz of Douglas, Wyo.
