Douglas J. Burch, age 69, of North East, died Thursday, February 20, 2014 at WCA Hospital.
He was born on March 23, 1944 to the late James and Elizabeth Boyd Burch.
Douglas graduated from North East High School, class of 1962.
He owned and operated Burch Farms in North East.
Douglas was a member of the North East Cemetery Board.
He was the former president of Keystone Foods, North East Fruit Growers Co-Op, Erie County Horticultural Society, North East Scholarship Board, Elder of the 1st Presbyterian Church in North East, North East Masonic Lodge #399 F&AM, Valley of Erie Scottish Rite and Zem Zem Shrine Club.
Douglas is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jeanie Crouch Burch, whom he married June 27, 1964; sons, Timothy and Lee Foster Burch of North East, Tadd and Allison Arnold Burch of North East; daughters, Shelley Burch Mayes (Scott) of North East, Mendee Burch Cunningham of North East; sister, Catherine McClure of North East; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He devoted his entire life to God, family, and the Burch Farm business. Douglas daily gave his love for his family, growing with each one, every day, and he also loved hunting and fishing with his grandchildren.
Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 S. Lake Street, North East, on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9, Monday 2-4 and 7-9, and are invited to attend a funeral service on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 25 W. Main St., North East, PA 16428. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Gregg Townsend. Interment will be in North East Cemetery.

North East Masonic Lodge #399 F&AM will hold a service on Sunday at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
