Mary Jean Torrey Jackson, 81, of South Road, Centerville, Pa., died on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at her residence.
She was born on June 16, 1932, in Spartansburg, Pa., a daughter of the late Clifton and Helen Morton Torrey.
Mary was raised and educated in Bloomfield and graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1950. She then married and stayed home to raise and care for her family. Later, Mary worked for the Ballog Farm, for several years. She then worked for First National Bank, in Waterford, and later, in Spartansburg. She worked for the bank for 20 years, retiring in 1988.
Mary was a member of Little Cooley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, baking and caring for her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death, on August 22, 1998, by her husband, Richard E. Jackson, whom she married on June 23, 1950, in Lincolnville, Pa.; a brother, Vernal Torrey, and a great-grandson, Shane Burek.
Mary is survived by two daughters, Sandy Beeman and her husband Jim of Lincolnville, Pa., and Loretta Price and her husband Matt of Union City, Pa., a son, Duane Jackson and his wife Sharon of Lincolnville, Pa., and a sister, Cecile Rose of Union City, Pa.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Lori Burek and her husband Michael, Tiffany McKinney and her husband Glenn, Jamie Moraski and her husband Trent, Brent Jackson and his wife Stacy, Brian Jackson, Fawn Jackson, TSGT Andrew Lutzo and his wife Michelle and Kyle Lutzo; nine great-grandchildren, Cora Lee Burek, Taylor and Tori Williams, Everett and Noah Moraski, Peyton Jackson, Alia, Laura, and Brylee Lutzo; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the U. C. Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 2 Dowman Street, Union City, Pa., on Saturday at 10 a.m. Rev. Tom Hunsberger will officiate.
Burial will be in Loomis Cemetery, Lincolnville, Pa.
